Imphal, December 19:
The NSCN(IM), Wung Tangkhul region, has dismissed as concocted and unfounded the allegations levelled by the Khaplang group in what it termed as its desperate attempt to create division among the Nagas on communal and tribal lines and sideline the Tangkhul community.
A statement issued by the regional secretary, Wung Tangkhul region, GPRN, referring to various press statements of the NSCN(K) said the sole objective of the group has been narrowed down from the proclaimed struggle for Naga sovereignty to solely attacking a particular community and particular individuals.
It said it is disheartening to see the Khaplang group resorting to 'cheap and despicable' means in a desperate effort to sabotage the ongoing Naga peace process and targeting a particular community and maligning its leaders.
This, it maintained, amounted to adding salt to the wounds suffered by the Nagas due to the divide and rule policy of India and its agents.
Citing the horrifying consequences that would result if unabated revengeful internecine killings resumed, the statement said it is time that the hatchet is buried and peace given a chance, keeping in view the larger interest and aspiration of the Naga people to hammer out an honourable solution to the long-drawn out Indo-Naga conflict.
